Kent & East Sussex Railway

Written by Graham Sivyer

A Great Value Day Out for all age Groups, Families with Children, Educational Trips and Big Kids

Our all day hop-on, hop-off Rover fares allow unlimited travel along the full 10 ½ miles (16.8 km) of the railway. You can stop off to explore at any station – to visit Bodiam Castle for example, or to look over the loco yard at Rolvenden.

Group Travel
This is a popular destination for Group Travel with ample facilities for Coaches see http://www.kesr.org.uk/group-visits.html

Educational
Linking closely with the requirements of the History National Curriculum, we offer an Evacuation Experience each May. This is a large event, 1886 children were “evacuated” last year, and that means that we can offer a huge range of curriculum related activities and keep the costs at an economic level for schools.
The railway also offers A Victorian Experience Day which again links with the History National Curriculum.

The K&ESR offers rail journey packages for schools, at special rates for school parties.

Elegant Romantic Dining

The Kent and East Sussex Railway is perhaps one of the most elegant ways to see our fantastic countryside at a leisurely pace,
only a few minutes drive from Rye with lots to see and do all along the route, from the Train yoy are reminded that Tenterden
was an Island whilst approaching Bodiam Castle probably one of England’s finest Castles from this unique aspect swiftly carries you back in time.

It is no wonder that many of our visitors elect to take a membership http://www.kesr.org.uk/membership.html as this brings
additional benefits not generally available to non members.

If you plan to make a day of it why not call us on the number below to request one of our terrific picnic hampers, these are
really popular and have features behind the scenes of a few films when we host Sussex Film shoots http://www.kesr.org.uk/film-location.html

We like our trains to depart on time and our visitors can help by arriving early to purchase tickets. It can help that just one person
queues to purchase tickets and other family members make their way to find seats.
