Garry and the staff at the Ypres Castle Inn offer a warm and welcoming invitation to locals and visitor’s alike to our 17th Century fisherman’s pub and garden. “The Wipers” nestles below the Ypres Castle Tower and the Gungarden within the ancient citadel of Rye. At the Ypres Castle Inn we specialise in fresh fish from Rye Bay and seasonal local produce. Rye has a huge number of local food suppliers and as a result we offer a wide range of fresh fish and meat dishes locally sourced produce wherever possible. Our food is freshly prepared in our kitchen daily.
We have Harveys on tap all year round, alongside four guest ales, such as Larkins, Old Dairy, Adnams, Pig and Porter and Longmans. We are included in the Real Ale Guide 2016 and hold both CAMRA & Cask Marque awards. We also have Biddenden and Bushels cider, as well as a selection of lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
Open everyday 12pm until 11pm (10.30pm on Sundays), we serve Lunch 12 noon – 3pm and Dinner 6pm – 9pm (no food service on Sunday or Bank Holiday Monday evenings). We can get very busy at times, so it’s worth calling beforehand to book a table.
The Wipers play host to a wide range of live music acts on Friday nights from 9.30pm and on Sunday afternoons from 4.00pm. There’s something for everyone, from solo acoustic acts to cover bands and rock and blues bands. Check out our music listings on our website or on our Facebook page. There is also a large beer garden with views over the Romney Marsh, where we host outdoor events during the summer.
