Filming in Rye Bay : A Perfect Filming Location
The Incredible varied landscape and ancient Towns and Villages of Rye Bay have for a long time been a magnet to Film and Television Companies

Over the years many Feature Films including Criminal starring Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones parts of which were filmed at Camber in September 2014, also in 2014 Mr Holmes starring Ian McKellen and Frances de la Tour was shot in Winchelsea. In 2013 George Clooney’s Monuments Men with a host of big names including Matt Damon, Hugh Bonneville, Cate Blanchett and John Goodman was partly filmed in both Rye and Camber Sands, as well as Neil Jordan’s Byzantium with Saorise Ronan and Gemma Arterton was shot here.

Many other big budget Movies have been shot in Rye Bay, including The Longest Day with John Wayne and Richard Burton, The Invisible Woman with Ralph Fiennes and Kristen Scott Thomas, Dunkirk with John Mills and Richard Attenborough, and even Carry on Follow that Camel with Phil Silvers and Kenneth Williams where Camber Sands doubles for the Sahara Desert! John Schlesinger’s Cold Comfort Farm starring Eileen Atkins and Stephen Fry was Filmed on The Kent and East Sussex Railway and at the Ferry Inn at Stone in Oxney plus other locations.

If you are a Film buff it’s well worth going to Dungeness to see the Film Director Derek Jarman’s garden.

As well as Feature Films no end of Television Programmes have been filmed in Rye Bay including Mapp & Lucia, Foyles War, Dr Who, The Darling Buds of May and numerous Antique shows plus many more.

Thee area has been used in many music videos including those for Keane and The Kaiser Chiefs, indeed many world famous music Legends actually live in and around Rye Bay.

Premium brands clearly benefit by using popular destinations to present their message and can rely on our support such as M&S fashion adverts at Saltcote Place, Next, Boden, White Co. at The George, Halfords in
Rye in September 2013, Activia, Samsung at Pett Level and Camber Sands in September 2014, not to mention 118 118 also at Pett Level, these are just scratching the surface of the huge number of commercials
and adverts shot in Rye Bay.

You should inform us of any special parking requirements. Please be aware that some areas of the town are more difficult to park in than others and height restrictions may apply in the citadel.
