High St

Rye High Street still has the almost untouched look and feel where locals and visitors blend well and everyone can find what they want. Of course you can do a complete shop in Rye High street but you will also find interesting retail shops selling locally sourced produce from a wide range of industries.

Rye Bay is part of the south coast and includes Camber Sands where young and old alike can enjoy long uninterrupted walks on soft golden sands. The occasional horse can be seen in the evening and dogs are welcome in well defined sections of the beach – when kept under control.

Boots are one of the most noticeable brand names but they have been here for many years. Antique shops, restaurants, a Card shop, and of course the obligatory tea shops can all be found on Rye High Street.

Less well known are the rare book shops, specialist antique jewellery and a few ladies outfitters that have “nearly new” brand names on display for a few days before the fast moving stock is replenished.

Thriving local business and lovely places to eat will ensure your visit to Rye is enjoyable for a wide range of reasons even if it’s just to have some private time whilst the others go off to play Golf or Tennis at some of the local clubs which include Rye Golf Club, Tenterden Gold club, Rye Tennis Club, Lydd Golf Course to name but a few.

If you are staying in the area we strongly suggest you look at the excellent Bed and Breakfast providers and hotels and avoid overpriced AirBnB properties which are mainly unregulated.
